• Ponce de Leon Park — South of town, toward the harbor mouth. Peaceful, with a beach and a small pier.

• Harborwalk kayak launches — Paddle the waterways at sunrise. Snook live in the residential canals.

• Charlotte Harbor is big water. Afternoon wind stacks a short, miserable chop — fish the river or the lee shore after 11 am in spring.
